BENGALURU: The Karnataka Associated Management of English-medium Schools (KAMS) has approached the High Court stating that the state government has not revised the reimbursement they are given for providing 25 per cent of their seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The have filed an interlocutory application while challenging the recent notification in the matter.
While adjourning the case by one week, the High Court has directed the state government to file additional objections to the plea. They state that as per the prescribed rules under RTE, the state has to revise the reimbursement amount every year.
However, KAMS claims that the state has not revised the amount since the implementation of the Act in 2012-13. According to the plea, Rs 11,848 was fixed for schools, for every child admitted under RTE, which was calculated taking into account the amount spent on every student in government schools. However, it further alleges that the actual amount being received is just the recurring expenditure, which will be between Rs 5,000 and Rs 6,000.
