Girl writes to President, threatens to end life if justice not given

'My school principal started harassing me after my father questioned him.'

Vadodra: In a bid to draw the President Pranab Mukherjee’s attention, a 13-year-old girl has written a letter threatening to end her life in case the former fails to render justice within 10 days. The teenager named Ishika Gupta, a resident of Gujarat’s Anand district, has been under prolonged consternation for being harassed by her school principal.

As quoted in a report, the girl - a class eight student at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya - has accused her school principal of harassment. "My school principal started harassing me after my father Rahul Gupta questioned the principal over donation sought (without any receipts) by the school in the name of development. I would like to request our President to punish him," she said.

Earlier in January, she had written a letter to the President, seeking his assistance, but her efforts went in vain.

Last December, the principal denied to permit her leaves and was also allegedly beaten by the principal, she said.

She further added in case of eventualities that would adversely affect her or her family, the school management and the Anand district collector Dhaval Patel would be held responsible.

However, the district collector has rubbished the claims made by the girl. He added that requisite measures were taken to solve the matter, but the girl’s parents were adamant not to budge.
