DMK chief to boycott remaining session

Alleging that Opposition parties are not allowed to discharge their democratic duties.

Chennai: DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday announced boycott of the Assembly’s interim budget session alleging that Opposition parties are not allowed to discharge their democratic duties.

The ruling party members are unnecessarily indulging in uncivil personal attacks and the reactions of senior Opposition members are expunged from the Assembly records, he charged.

During the five-year term, the Opposition members have been evicted many times and they have boycotted the Assembly too several times, he said and added that the ruling party thinks that they could do anything since they have the support of majority members. The views of the Opposition members are not accepted in the privileges committee or business committee, he added.
