Bengaluru: DG & IGP Om Prakash pulls up cops at Jigani police station

BENGALURU: DG & IGP Om Prakash paid a surprise visit to Jigani police station on Wednesday afternoon. During the visit he found several shortcomings in the functioning of the policemen in the station. It is said that the state police chief took away several diaries and files from the station.

Om Prakash visited the station around 1 pm and was there for nearly two hours. Sources said that he visited the station as the public had complained him on the way the staff at the station functioned. It is said that the police inspector Mallesh was not coming to the station regularly. Also, the station diary was not maintained from the last several months.

Mr Om Prakash told Deccan Chronicle that he found several shortcomings in the way the policemen functioned there. “We can’t hold only the inspector responsible for all the shortcomings, as there are senior officials to supervise the work. I will take appropriate disciplinary action based on the findings of my visit,” he said, adding that the surprise visits to police stations would continue.
