Bengaluru: Cabbie dead, two injured in car accident
Bengaluru: A 26-year-old cab driver attached to a call centre was killed while two other employees sustained injuries when the over-speeding car, lost control and rammed into a median, electrical pole and then onto a tree on the road side near bore-well junction on Old Airport road early Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Somanayaka, a native of KR Pete and a resident of Peenya. The injured are Aditya Sharma and Zahilullah, employees of a private call centre firm and residents of Ejipura and Bannerghatta Road respectively.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 4.30 am, when Somanayaka was dropping the two employees of the call-centre, situated at Kundalahalli, to their homes. The driver lost control over the car and it first rammed the median, then a streetlight pole and finally a tree located 20 feet away, before coming to a halt, said a traffic police officer.
Due to the impact, the Indica car was completely damaged and passersby rushed the trio to Manipal Hospital, where the doctors declared Somanayaka as brought dead, while Zahilullah and Aditya are said to be out of danger.
The Old Airport Road traffic police have registered a case of death due to negligence and begun investigation.
