VELAGAPUDI (GUNTUR): Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday started process of construction of Amaravati by laying the foundation stone for construction of AP’s temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi in Guntur district.
Saluting the air and soil of Velagapudi and the waters of River Krishna, Mr Naidu refuted allegations of the Opposition that large amounts were being spent unnecessarily on the temporary Secretariat, saying that these buildings would later be used for offices and other purposes.
The CM confirmed that the temporary Secretariat would start functioning from June 15. “Amaravati will go down in history and the new capital will define the alphabet – ‘A’ for Amaravati - in the future,” he said.
Recalling the history of construction of Hampi by Harihara Rayalu and Bukka Rayalu of the Vijayanagara dynasty, the CM said that the people of AP now have the rare opportunity to construct Amaravati that would mirror the pride and culture of Andhras to the world.
He said that AP was facing a lot of difficulties and would be in financial deficit till 2019 and to get out of it, the government was promoting investments.
