Hyderabad: Motorists protested at the Manoharabad toll plaza on Wednesday when they were asked to pay the fee despite the TS government’s orders waiving the payment on January 16.
Sources said the toll plaza staff ignored the order and were allowing motorists to pass only after they paid the fee.
Sources said the toll plaza officials had given a representation to the Medak collector to restore the toll collection but it was not approved.
The staff began passing off its letter as an order began collecting money from the thousands of families who were returning to the city from AP at the conclusion of Sankranti.
Mr B.T. Srinivasan of Malkajgiri, who had to pay the toll, said, “We reminded them of the government order. They produced their representation to the Medak collector and said it was an order to collect the toll.”
