18 Delhi Metro Stations Shut Until Further Notice in View of Security
While the stations will remain closed to passengers, interchange facilities will continue to operate at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat
NEW DELHI: Eighteen Delhi Metro stations will remain closed from 7:30 am on Saturday until further notice due to security concerns and ongoing student protests in central Delhi.
The affected stations are Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan and New Delhi.
While the stations will remain closed to passengers, interchange facilities will continue to operate at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.
"Service Update: Below mentioned Metro stations will be closed from 07:30 AM tomorrow (25th July, 2026) till further instructions. However, Interchange facility shall remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat... Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a post on X.
Security has also been tightened around Jantar Mantar, where Delhi Police have erected additional barricades linked with heavy-duty chains and reinforced through welding.
The measures come amid protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over the alleged NEET paper leak and demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
On Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced recruitment for senior General Manager-level positions and invited applications for 16 Young Professional posts through the UPSC's Pratibha Setu portal.
According to the agency, the recruitment drive marks the first step in an institutional overhaul of the NTA based on recommendations made by the high-level committee headed by Prof. K. Radhakrishnan.
The Union Cabinet has also approved amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, aimed at strengthening anti-paper leak measures. The proposed amendment Bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament on Monday.
The developments follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent video message promising stricter action against examination paper leaks and announcing that the Cabinet would consider the draft legislation.
Meanwhile, social activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital after receiving written assurances from the Centre on reforms related to the NEET examination and the broader competitive examination system.
