Special Panel to Review Parliament Security: Birla

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday informed members of the House that a high-powered committee tasked with reviewing security aspects within the Parliament complex has been formed.

The committee aims to devise an action plan to prevent the recurrence of the December 13 incident. Birla shared this information in a letter addressed to Lok Sabha members, also mentioning that the report from the high-level inquiry committee established by the Union home ministry would be shared with the House soon.

“In addition to this, I have constituted a High Powered Committee, which will assess various security aspects within the Parliament Complex and develop a concrete action plan to ensure the non-recurrence of such incidents,” he wrote in the letter.

On December 13, two individuals entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, releasing yellow smoke canisters. MPs present during the Zero Hour subdued the intruders. Additionally, two more individuals, including a woman, were apprehended for staging a demonstration outside the Parliament complex.
