Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday suo motu treated Deccan Chronicle’s Speak Out as a public interest petition and issued notices to various wings of the state government.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy directed the chief secretary, principal secretaries of home and municipal administration, urban development, DGP, police commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad, commissioner of GHMC, and collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts to file their replies on letters carried on the Speak Out pages of Deccan Chronicle within four weeks.

The High Court was taking cognisance of the December 2 edition of Speak Out, which carried readers’ letters regarding poor civic facilities under the headline ‘City Infrastructure Crumbling’.

The garbage that they leave behind is also not cleaned up, leading to unhygienic conditions.
