BJP MP from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency Shobha Karandlaje applied for a gun license on Saturday.The MP approached City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar and cited life threats as the reason for applying for the licence. Ms Karandlaje is in the forefront of most of BJP’s protests against the killings of BJP activists in the coastal belts, allegedly by the PFI and Left activists.
Accepting the request, Mr Kumar said that anyone can apply for the gun licence. The officials concerned will examine her request and get inputs from the intelligence wing which are the criteria to offer the license or to cancel the request.
