Hyderabad: Unhappy CBIT parents continue to protest

CBIT officials say that the enhanced fee amount of Rs 86,500 will be reimbursed by the respective state and central governments.

Hyderabad: Protests at Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology (CBIT) will continue as parent associations are dissatisfied with the latest circular released by CBIT. CBIT officials say that the enhanced fee amount of Rs 86,500 will be reimbursed by the respective state and central governments for those students admitted under the convener quota — A category, i.e. SC/ST and OBC students with rank below 1000.

“We will not collect this amount from the students if the state or Central governments will not reimburse the difference in the enhanced fee but CBIT will claim the same from the government departmen-ts under due process of law,” said an official. Students in the B Category under the management quota have to pay the enhanced fees within six months if their JEE rank is above 20,000.

Mr Ramu, the general secretary of Telangana Parents Association, said, “The circular skips the main demand of the parents and students, which is withdrawing the enhanced fees. No parent has agreed to this ‘discussion’ as stated in the circular.”
