Karnataka High Court quashes case against DS Karthik Gowda

The R T Nagar Police, which investigated the complaint, had filed the chargesheet before the lower court.

Bengaluru: In a relief to D.S. Karthik Gowda, son of Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the Karnataka High Court on Friday quashed the criminal proceedings against him in connection with a cheating case. Actress Mythriya Gowda had accused him of cheating and alleged that he had made a false promise to marry her.

The R T Nagar Police, which investigated the complaint, had filed the chargesheet before the lower court. In the chargesheet the police had dropped charges of rape and kidnap for lack of evidence against Karthik. However it had filed the chargesheet under IPC Sec 419 which refers to punishment for cheating by impersonation.

Following the summons issued against him by the lower court, Karthik had approached the high court.

VHP leader gets bail
The HC has granted anticipatory bail to Praveen Khandya, VHP leader and one of the accused in the case of a businessman’s kidnap, in which suspended DySP late Kallappa Handibag was also an accused. The VHP leader was absconding since an FIR was registered against him in the case.
