BIRRD hospital boost to ortho patients: Chandrababu Naidu

Naidu praises TTD for extending quality treatment to poor.

Tirupati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised the TTD-run Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD) terming it as Asia's numero uno state-of-art orthopaedic hospital extending quality treatment to the poor and needy. The Chief Minister inaugurated the new block of BIRRD hospital constructed by the TTD at a cost of '43.8 crore on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the hospital was opened in 1985 by the then AP Chief Minister late N.T. Rama Rao to offer the best free ortho medical treatment. “During the three decades, this unique orthopaedic centre has not only extended its services to patients from Andhra Pradesh but also from all over India. Today it has emerged as Asia's best ortho ailments treating hospital. I compliment the Director, Dr Jagdeesh, and his team of doctors and medical fraternity for this credit. I wish the new building will ensure further enhanced medical treatment to the needy”, he added.

Later, the CM visited the operation theatres, laboratory, radiology department, modern artificial limb fitting centre, physiotherapy department, X-ray department and central drug stores. He interacted with patients undergoing treatment in the hospital. Ministers Manikyala Rao, K. Sreenivas, B. Gopala Krishna Reddy, TTD Trust Board Chairman Ch. Krishnamurthy, TTD Executive Officer Dr D. Sambasiva Rao, JEOs K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, Pola Bhaskar, MLA Sugunamma, TTD Trust Board members A.V. Ramana, Sudhakar Yadav, Bhanuprakash Reddy, Dr Hariprasad, Narsa Reddy, Chief Engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy, SE Ramesh Reddy and EE Jaganmohan Reddy took part.
