Action against HY Meti if Delhi says yes: Dr G Parameshwar

KPCC had brought the sex video to the notice of the high command and urged it to take the matter seriously as Mr Meti was a former minister.

Belagavi: The Congress party would take action against former Excise Minister H.Y. Meti, currently embroiled in a sex scandal, if asked to do so by the high command, KPCC president and Home Minister, Dr G Parameshwar told reporters here on Friday.

He said the KPCC had brought the sex video to the notice of the high command and urged it to take the matter seriously as Mr Meti was a former minister. While admitting that the scandal had been demoralising for the party rank and file, Dr Parameshwar said it was now in the past and there was no reason for the party not to move forward.

Rubbishing claims by state BJP chief and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa that some ministers were involved in money laundering following the demonetisation of high-vallue currency notes, he said the charges were baseless. “I request Mr Yeddyurappa to come out with names of these leaders and evidence of their involvement in money laundering so action can be taken against them .

It is unfortunate that baseless allegations are being made,'' he added.

Responding to a query, he said the CID was still investigating whether Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Tanvir Sait was watching porn on his phone at a public function as alleged.

Moving on to AICC vice-president, Rahul Gandhi’s December 17 rally here, Dr Parameshwar said it was being organised at the same district stadium where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed a rally a few days after demonetisation.

“Mr Gandhi will take on the Prime Minister from the same stage and tell the people how demonetisation has impacted the Indian economy”' he said, adding that a six-member committee of the All India Congress Committee would shortly begin its country-wide campaign against demonetisation.
