Hyderabad: In view of the general elections, excise officials on Friday conducted an interstate meeting as per the directive of election commission to find ways to curb the illegal flow of liquor from the neighbouring states.
The officials have identified the liquor outlets within 5 km from the Telangana state border and asked them to maintain dry day for 48 hours till the closing of the polls.
During the meeting it was agreed by all excise officials of the states of AP, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh to increase joint raids with TS excise officials and their counterparts in vulnerable areas.
Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar said, liquor worth Rs 6.1 crore were seized.”
