Hyderabad High Court gives relief to Varavara Rao

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court told poet and activist Varavara Rao to avail of remedies under law as the transit warrant which was given by a lower court to the Pune police has had become infructuous.
Justice B. Siva Sankara Rao was dealing with the petition of Mr Varavara Rao seeking to quash the case booked by the Pune police with regard to the Bhima-Koregaon riots. The judge said the transit warrant issued on August 28 had been implemented by the Pune police by taking petitioner on next day.
The judge pointed out the purpose of warrant was served. Observing that “the transit warrant is dead in position,” Justice Rao judge told the petitioner to approach the Bombay High Court or the appropriate court.
