Telangana: Junior colleges now make money on exam fees
Hyderabad: After receiving several complaints against junior colleges charging excess exam fees, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has warned educational institutions against doing so.
The Board will take stringent action against colleges found indulging in this practice.
On Thursday, the Board released details of the fees prescribed by it and advised parents and students not to pay any more than those amounts. It also asked students to contact the District Intermediate Education Officer if any college made an attempt to collect excess exam fees.
The TSBIE has received several complaints from parents and students alleging that private junior colleges were collecting between '500 and '4,000 as examination fees, instead of the fees prescribed by the board.
Gouri Satish, the honorary president of the Junior College Management Associations, says, “No private junior colleges is collecting excess exam fees as far as we know. If any college collects excess fees, we will report it to the TSBIE. Some colleges must be collecting fees for internal exams, which will be up to Rs 200. If any college is collecting Rs 4,000, then it is a violation and the Board should take a strict against that college.”
