Cash-for-vote case: Hyderabad HC urged to make Naidu an accused

Arunkumar told the court that the interest of the public of both AP and Telangana states were involved in this case.

Hyderabad: Congress former MP Vundavalli Arunkumar on Wednesday urged the Hyderabad High Court to make Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as one of the accused in the sensational cash-for-vote case by invoking its extraordinary jurisdiction.

He was arguing before Justice T. Sunil Chowdary as an intervener in a criminal petition by Mr Chandrababu Naidu challenging an order passed by the ACB Court on further investigation into the case.

Maintaining that he has sought permission of the court to argue in this case as a responsible citizen of the country, Mr Arunkumar told the court that the interest of the public of both AP and Telangana states were involved in this case.

He wondered why the TS ACB has not examined Mr Naidu till date, despite his name being mentioned several times in the chargesheet filed in the case by the ACB. Mr Arunkumar said that the entire country was looking at the case and the ACB has been dilly-dallying in the probe without ascertaining the origins of the money used to bribe the TRS nominated MLA and also comparing the audio tapes in the case with the voice sample of Mr Naidu.

Justifying the order of the Special ACB Court for further investigation in the case on the complaint of YSR Congress MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Mr Arunkumar urged the court to direct the ACB to make Mr Naidu an accused in the case.
The judge posted the case to Thursday for the arguments of counsel for Mr Naidu.
