Speaker refutes allegations of conspiracy to kill Naidu in jail

Visakhapatnam: Refuting the allegations made by the opposition parties that the YSRC government was conspiring to kill TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu in the Rajamundry Central Jail, Legislative Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram said that his government would get no benefit with the killing of the jailed opposition leader.

“It makes no difference to YSRC wherever he (Naidu) stays. What will we get if he is killed in the jail? Nothing,” the Speaker said.

He noted that whatever facilities the family members sought through the court were being met by the government in providing to the opposition leader, who was remanded in the Rajahmundry jail on charges of involvement in the skill development scam.

The Speaker said that Naidu was just like any other criminal in the country. He is not a Nehru or Gandhi, he said.

“The TD’s business was over. Though the party workers and leaders were making issues out of Naidu’s arrest, the response from the people remained meek. People will never support financial criminals. Some forces put Jagan Mohan Reddy in jail for 16 months. He was set free as no accusation against him was proved,” Sitaram said.

Stating that the YSRC would contest all the 175 Assembly segments, he dared the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP to contest all the seats like his party.

Sitaram said that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had lost his lustre.
