Tirupati: 21-year-old girl allegedly commits suicide
Tirupati: A 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday at a rented residence at Karveti Nagar Mandal of Chittoor district in which she was living together with a teacher since two years. The deceased has been identified as C. Sravani of Gurukula Madugu in Ramakuppam Mandal of Chittoor district, the police said.
The incident came to light after the neighbours sensed a foul smell emanating from the house and informed the police. Based on the information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased for autopsy.
The teacher named K. Gurumurthy has been taken into custody by the police and a case was registered against him under relevant Sections, suspecting his responsibility in the alleged suicide of Sravani. "As the victim was a young girl and allegedly bullied by a teacher, we have taken this case seriously. After the autopsy reports, we may alter the Sections,” said D. Challani Dhora, CI of Kuppam Mandal.
According to CI Dhora, the accused K. Gurumurthy had earlier married another woman and got close to the family of the deceased two years ago while he was working at a school in Gurukula Mandal where the girl used to teach students on a part-time basis.
The victim belongs to a poor family and her father had left them and married another woman. At this time, Gurumurthy pretended as a mentor to Sravani and assured her mother that he will take care of her daughter and join her in police forces by providing necessary coaching in Tirupati. He then took her to Karveti Nagaram and continued living together with her at a rented residence.
The police suspect that he developed some illicit relationship with the girl which invited trouble. Meanwhile, the relatives alleged that Gurumurthy used the girl and when she came to know about his real face, he killed her.
