Bengaluru: 5 held, 2.64 kg gold jewellery seized

The police recovered 801 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs 24 lakh and 2.2 kg of silver ornaments from them.

Bengaluru: In a major detection, the south division police recovered 2.64 kg of gold and 4.2 kg of silver ornaments and cash from five inter-state thieves involved in house break thefts (HBT) in different parts of the city.

With this, the police claimed to have solved 31 cases. Hanumanthnagar police arrested two offenders, Imran Khan alias Chor Imran (24), a resident of Valmikinagar on Mysuru Road, and Khadeer Ahmed (24), a resident of Nayandahalli, and solved seven cases, six in Bengaluru police stations and one in a Mysuru police station. The police recovered 801 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs 24 lakh and 2.2 kg of silver ornaments from them.

Prakash alias Junglee (29), a resident of Mathikere, who had turned out to be a headache for the Girinagar police with eight HBTs, too was arrested. The cops recovered 620 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs 18 lakhs and a two-wheeler from him. C.K. Achukattu police arrested Mahesh (25), a resident of Nagasandra, and Dayanand alias Nanda (21), a resident of Andrahalli Main Road, and recovered 1,200 gms of gold ornaments, 2 kg of silver ornaments and four two-wheelers. With their arrest, the police claimed to have solved 15 cases of HBT.

Modus operandi
All the five accused used same modus operandi. They conducted recce of the areas in the morning and would identify locked houses by spotting newspapers lying near the door and break into them at night.
