N Chandrababu Naidu swings into action to withstand onslaught of YSRC

Information about the surprise visit got leaked in the midnight itself.

Vijayawada: The surprise visits by the Chief Minister and his reaction over the poor civic amenities in the city have had an impact on the party urban committee and elected representatives too. The increasing presence of the YSRC in the Capital city and the inauguration of the YSRC party office building recently have prompted the CM to refresh the party activity in the urban area. Accordingly, he has chosen to make surprise visits. Meanwhile, information about the surprise visit got leaked in the midnight itself.

It has been almost three years after the TD was voted to power and the local public representatives have not paid attention to the civic issues even after the CM advising the MLAs, Gadde Rammohan Rao, Jaleel Khan and Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, to focus on the increasing mosquito menace and open drains. Meanwhile, the Opposition party, YSRC, set up its headquarters and started focusing on civic issues. Noticing this, the Chief Minister plunged into action, probably as part of damage control exercise.

"It is unfortunate to note that in our party, everything needs to be looked into by the party national president but in fact, it is the duty of local TD MLAs and MP to address the civic issues," said a senior TD leader. The CM's surprise visits has minimised the damage, he added. In fact, the municipal administration is not equipped with complete machinery and its exercise with regard to addressing mosquito menace has failed to bear fruit in all the divisions in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. This apart, the VMC also does not have a proper planning division. The CRDA has rich expertise in city planning but there is no coordination between the CRDA and VMC.
