ULFA-I is planning retaliation

The surgical strike inside Myanmar was carried out by a crack team of about 70 commandos of the Indian Army in June 2015.

Guwahati: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) and its associates operating under a joint platform — the United Liberation Front of Western South Asia in Northeastern states are planning to target security forces along the Indo-Myanmar international border in Manipur and Nagaland.

Disclosing the ministry of home affairs has alerted the security forces to take necessary precaution while operating in bordering areas, security sources told this newspaper that NSCN-K and anti-talk faction of Ulfa-I were planning this strike to retaliate the surgical strike of Indian army in Myanmar.

The surgical strike inside Myanmar was carried out by a crack team of about 70 commandos of the Indian Army in June 2015. The commandos of 21 Para, equipped with assault rifles, rocket launchers, grenades and night vision goggles, were airdropped inside Myanmar after the Naga militants killed 18 soldiers in an ambush in Chandel area of Manipur on June 4, 2015.

Thermal imagery was also used to track the operation about which Myanmarese authorities were kept in the loop.
