Mani C Kappen’s hand is dirty, says Shajahan

Shajahan alleged that Mr Kappen had used the influence of his party.

Kottayam: Activist K. M. Shajahan on Monday demanded a detailed probe into the alleged fraudulent land and financial dealings of LDF candidate Mani C. Kappen.

He alleged that Mr Kappen had used the influence of his party, the Nationalist Congress Party, in the UPA government to lease 800 acres of land in Meghalaya by floating a shell company called Gama Trade Link India.

He also stands arraigned in eight cheating cases including four under the consideration of the additional metropolitan magistrate of Borivali in Mumbai.

He said the LDF candidate who stated agriculture and film production as his profession in his election affidavit, was also accused of defaulting bank loans worth several crores of rupees.

They include Rs 14 crore to the Guwahati main branch of the Allahabad Bank and Rs 48.3 lakh to the Kottayam Agricultural Co-operative Rural Development Bank.
