Hyderabad: Assistants to be punished if Hajis complain

Mr Khan said the Haj season had been completed in a satisfactory manner.

Hyderabad: TS Haj Committee chairman Masihullah Khan said disciplinary action will be initiated against Haj assistants if pilgrims lodged complaints against them.

Mr Khan said the Haj season had been completed in a satisfactory manner. The state Haj committee received 8.325 pilgrims from Telangana and four other states in 23 chartered flights. Six pilgrims who embarked from Hyderabad died in the holy cities including four from the state, while a pilgrim had delivered a boy in Madina.

Regarding complaints that the Haj assistants were unhelpful during the pilgrimage, Mr Khan said he would take disciplinary action if pilgrims lodged complaints.

He said the services of Air India were not satisfactory and the airline did not maintain the schedule. “We will bring the issue to the notice of the Union government,” he said. Special officer B. Shafiullah clarified the Haj Committee role was minimal. “We can’t provide any help in the holy cities. However we will submit a report to the Haj Committee of India based on the feedback received from our pilgrims.”
