Grievances Galore: Civic activists seek removal of all banners

Another demand was to check the pasting of wall posters which is rampant in Coimbatore.

COIMBATORE: Members of Makkal Paadhai under the leadership of A. Manoj, civic activist petitioned district collector K. Rajamani demanding that banner fixtures are permanently removed from across the city.

"Before another death happens, ensure that banner fixtures are removed." the petition stated. The group of civic activists through the petition urged the district collector to ensure that all flag posts set up illegally in multiple locations across the textile city are also removed. Another demand was to check the pasting of wall posters which is rampant in Coimbatore.

"We suggest that just like the civic body has ear-marked areas where banners can be erected, the same rule must be adopted for pasting of wall posters." the petition suggested.

Meanwhile, carders of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) party petitioned district collector demanding that tough action is taken against those involved in the illegal mining of red sand for brick kilns that are operational in areas in and around Thadagam.
