Killing exposes deep-rooted casteism in society, says K T Rama Rao

The tweet attracted quite a few comments from Twitter users, not all of them supportive.

Hyderabad: Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said that the honour killing of a Dalit man, P. Pranay Kumar, had come as a rude shock and showed how deep-rooted casteism in the Indian society.

Mr Rao tweeted, “Pranay’s gruesome murder in Miryalaguda has come as a rude shock. I am dismayed and anguished at how deep-rooted casteism still is. The perpetrators of this heinous crime will be punished and justice will prevail. My condolences and whole hearted sympathies to his wife Amrutha Garu and parents.”

The tweet attracted quite a few comments from Twitter users, not all of them supportive. One Srikanth said, “You are the one who invited him to come and join TRS. First you should be punished for inviting such a broker.”

Kukati Sanjay Kanna said, "For how many days this caste killing will continue? Is taking birth in a Dalit family our mistake? Don't we have a right to love? Killing a Dalit just because he loves a person from another caste is the only option?"

Andrews Ricky said, “Amrutha and family members of Pranay don't need your condolences, they just

need justice. We, the citizens of Telangana need this caste system and caste greed to be abolished.”

Chandra Pavan commented, “Higher caste, lower caste,who invented this? This has to end. Can't we scrap the caste system? This particular incident has literally left me in tears.”

Charan said, “We believe you, brother. Please kill those hired killers. These people can go to any extent for money. They are animals. Please eradicate them.”
