Hyderabad: Two men attack prisoner, cop at fuel station
Hyderabad: Two men attacked a prisoner and a constable working at a petrol bunk run by the prisons department on Saturday night, when they were denied fuel during a power outage.
The transformer at the Chanchalguda prison-run bunk had crashed, forcing officials to barricade the place. Despite this, two motorists, later identified as Syed Wasim Ahmed and Ahmed Khan, proceeded to enter the petrol bunk demanding petrol. The life imprisonment prisoner, Mukhtar working at the bunk, explained to the two men that the bunk was closed due to power issues and the petrol units were not working without the same. The two men continued to argue while attempting to enter the bunk, turning the incident into a brawl as they attacked the Mukhtar.
Presiding Jail in-charge, Mr Vinay Kumar said, “The men attacked both Mukhtar and another officer G. Srinivas. The officer was hurt and had to be taken to Osmania Hospital to treat his arm, I was on the scene and immediately notified the Saidabad police station. A complaint was filed against the two miscreants and they were immediately arrested.”
Speaking further on the incident, Chanchalguda jail superintendent B. Saidaiah said, “We do not tolerate any misbehaviour at our bunks and there are always security measures in place in case such incidents occur. The prisoner was instigated but did not respond to the miscreants.”
