Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday directed officials to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh without bank linkage to Backward Classes community members who opt for self-employment.
He instructed officials that schemes and programmes should be formulated and implemented for the welfare and development of the BC communities in a manner that people were not misled and showing no inclination towards vote bank politics.
The CM wanted the Most Backward Classes Finance Corporation, which was set up with a Rs 1,000-crore fund, to organise special programmes for the uplift of these sections.
“A sincere attempt should be made to eradicate poverty among the BC communities who constitute 50 per cent of the population. Each BC community has a unique trade and living standards. The programmes should be planned keeping this in mind,” he said.
“For the Gollas and Kurumas, we have taken up sheep distribution programmes at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. By launching Rs 1,000 crore fish culture programme, we are supporting the fisherman community. Programmes are being implemented for the weavers at Rs 1,200 crore,” he said.
