DIG D. Roopa exposed corruption and irregularities in the prisons department recently.
Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment to the Siddaramaiah government, DIG D. Roopa, who exposed corruption and irregularities in the prisons department recently, was conferred with President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service by Governor Vajubhai R Vala at the Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Saturday in the presence of the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
The decision came before she had submitted a report to the Director General of Prisons stating that former TN CM Jayalalitha's aide Sasikala, serving a four-year sentence in the disproportionate assets case at Parapanna Agrahara Central Prison, was given preferential treatment amid allegations that Rs two crore had changed hands.
