BJP to intensify Quit George' campaign

The decision was taken at a meeting of the core committee to force minister George to quit following SC order for a CBI probe into police.

Bengaluru: Leaders of the state unit of BJP on Saturday decided to decided to intensify their protests in support of their demand for resignation of minister for Bengaluru development K J George, including nightlong sit-in led by state unit president B S Yeddyurappa, beginning September 26.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the core committee in the presence of Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar and railways minister Piyush Goyal in an effort to force Mr George to quit following the Supreme Court order for a CBI probe into suicide of police officer M K Ganapathi.

Besides, Mr. Javadekar and Mr Piyush Goyal would commence a tour of Hyderabad Karnataka region during September 21 and 22, and later participate in programmes in Bengaluru, as the top brass has chalked out programmes and agitations later this month and October across the state in order to highlight issues specific to each Assembly constituency, former minister Aravind Limbavali told the media here on Saturday.

He said beginning November 1, the state unit would launch “Parivarthana” rally under the leadership of Mr. Yeddyurappa.

Earlier in a day, Mr. Javadekar held discussions with MPs, MLAs and MLCs, and advised them to highlight achievements and schemes of the Union government.
