Bengaluru: Known for his innovative ideas in governance and leadership, S. Suhas, an IAS officer who is from Bengaluru, is making waves in Kerala.
Mr Suhas, who is the collector at Wayanad, is being lauded by various groups for his work ensuring inclusion of all citizens. The latest initiative is to meet 10 tribal chieftains every month to identify and tackle various issues faced by them.
He had opted for civil services, though he had offers to pursue higher education in top universities like Maryland University and University of California with scholarships.
The IAS officer of the 2012 batch, Mr Suhas attributed it to the way he was brought up, pursuing education in different cities across the country.
“My father was in the Indian Forest Service and we hopped from one place to another because of his transfers,” he said.
“My parents also encouraged me to read a lot of books and to take part in sports and other outdoor activities which helped me become a balanced individual,” he added.
Mr Suhas was popular during his first posting in Kochi as a sub-collector as he emphasised on technology for effective administration.
The electronics and communications engineering graduate believes that technology will simplify the system and make it transparent.
“Taking a bribe becomes almost impossible. When the whole process is automated, it also helps swift movement of files to the next level,” he said.
