No plan for flyover yet in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Despite the traffic police repeated suggestions to set up flyover at Hanumanthawaka Junction on NH-16 stretch in the city to ease the traffic congestions, the NHAI authorities have ignored the suggestions.
The NHAI authorities have proposed two flyovers, one at Maddilapalem another at Satyam Junction and they prepared Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be sent to Union government.
Sources said that Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, who visited Vizag during the recently held national workshops on Road Safety, assured sanction of two flyovers in addition to the proposed flyover at NAD Junction.
A senior police officer with traffic police wing said that traffic in Vizag has been growing by leaps and bounds. Two Junctions - NAD Junction and Hanumanthawaka Junction has emerged the busiest followed by Maddilapalem Junction, Gajuwaka and few other areas. “We have been appealing the GVMC, VUDA, NHAI and others to propose and set up Rotary Shape flyovers in the first phase,”he said.
NHAI is yet to take any step to set up flyover at Hanumanthawaka Junction, the major intersection traffic point in the city says, P. Anil Kumar, software professional.
