Cauvery row: Protests continue, 12,000 cusecs of water flows to TN on 9th day
Mysuru: Even as protests continued in the Cauvery basin area inthe state, as much as 12,020 cusecs of water was released on Friday to Tamil Nadu, leaving the Krishna Raja Sagar dam with only 86.10 feet of storage. So far, 10.944 tmcft of water has reached Biligundlu from the state’s reservoirs since September 7.
Meanwhile, Legislators Narendraswamy, Puttaraju, Chaluvarayaswamy and Ramesh Babu of the Cauvery catchment area in the state, attended a meeting called by the Cauvery Hitharakshana Vedike head and former MP G. Made Gowda, who warned that they would wait for the Supreme Court hearing on September 19 before deciding on their future course of action.
In Mysuru, the Cauvery Kriya Samithi took out a protest rally before the town hall and a citizens’ rights forum held a protest before the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The Suvaraka Karnataka Rakshana Vedike vented its anger against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa by printing mock invitations to the 11th day ceremony of “her death” and sent them to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other leaders in the state.
