Bengaluru: Policemen are on their toes after City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Friday issued a high alert memo to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. The memo, however, does not specify any threat, including any possible terrorist attack or any major sabotage activity in the city.

Rao has directed officers to set up check posts at important places and take all precautionary measures at Vidhana Soudha, High Court, all railway stations, Bengaluru Metro, BMTC, KSRTC bus terminals, malls, five star hotels and busy markets.

The memo, however, does not specify any threat, including any possible terrorist attack or any major sabotage activity in the city. It directs both Additional Commissioners of police and all deputy commissioners of police to ensure safety measures. Rao has told all officers and personnel to be on high alert and directed them to set up check posts at important places.

The notice says that the officers have been strictly instructed to sensitise high alert in all iconic installations, including Vidhana Soudha, High Court, all railway stations, Bengaluru Metro, BMTC, KSRTC bus terminals, high end schools, malls, five star hotels and busy markets to immediately take precautionary measures.

The police have been instructed to post pickets, ensure that CCTVs are working, verify antecedents of suspected persons and vehicles. Unattended baggage and vehicles should be seized.

The notice also instructed all officers to be available on rounds at important places. PG hostels, service apartments and hotels near religious places should be checked, the notice read.
