Hyderabad: Day after being awarded, cop caught taking bribe

On Independence Day, the home department appreciated his services and awarded him the \'Best Constable\' award.

Hyderabad: A Telanagana state cop, who was awarded ‘best constable’ on Independence day, landed in the Anti-Corruption Bureau net a day later on Friday. Palle Thirupati Reddy serves as a police constable at the I Town police station of Mahbubnagar district .

On Independence Day, the home department appreciated his services and awarded him the 'Best Constable' award. He also received a citation from TS minister V. Srinivas Goud.

The bribe amount was recovered from back pocket of Thirupati Reddy’s trousers. A day later, the news of Thirupati Reddy caught red-handed was a shock to the department. At around 4.50 pm on Friday, the cop was trapped in the premises of the I Town police station while he was accepting a bribe of `17,000 for an official favour.The accused constable demanded money from a complainant, one Mudavath Ramesh of Mahbubnagar, not to book a false case against him and implicate him. The cop reportedly threatened the complainant that he would seize his tractor.
