GHMC taxman arrested on graft charges

Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau arrested GHMC tax inspector M. Ravi Prasad for demanding a bribe of Rs 80,000 in order to reduce the increase in property tax.

Prasad, posted with the GHMC Saroornagar circle, was caught red-handed accepting the money through his conduit J. Pochaiah, a bill collector.

The duo demanded money from one Pateru Janardhan, a complainant, to reduce the tax by a conducting re-verification and to limit the hiked tax for one year instead of three years.

The cops arrested the two, besides recovered the tax amount.
