Bengaluru: ADGP Alok Kumar withdraws petition

Alok\'s decision is expected to raise many eyebrows as he had earlier said he was fighting this case for his honour and not for the post.

Bengaluru: Has new Commissioner Bhaskar Rao had the last laugh after KSRP ADGP Alok Kumar withdrew his petition from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) challenging his transfer order on Friday? Alok Kumar was the first of many casualties in the mass transfer of officials after CM Yediyurappa took over, shunted out barely 45 days after taking charge as city Police Commissioner.

However, his lawyer withdrew the petition just before the Tribunal was to hear the case on Friday.

Alok's decision is expected to raise many eyebrows as he had earlier said he was fighting this case for his honour and not for the post. Police sources said the recent telephone tapping scam and Alok's alleged involvement in it, may have forced him to withdraw the case. If a probe finds direct involvement, it could affect his career, they said.
