Has use of MLA funds been audited: Hyderabad High Court

The bench adjourned the case to August 22 after asking him to furnish the information.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday sought to know from the state government whether it had completed auditing of funds allocated under the Con-stituency Development Programme (CDP) to MLAs and MLCs and as Special Development Fund to ministers.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranga-nathan and Justice J. Uma Devi was dealing with a PIL by the Forum for Good Governance challenging the allocation of funds. It questioned the release of '700 crore without treasury control and audit inspection.

The bench asked TS Advocate-General D. Prakash Reddy whether there was any internal mechanism available with the government to check the use of funds. He said there was an internal audit for the CDP funds, and sought time to ascertain whether it had been completed or not.

The bench adjourned the case to August 22 after asking him to furnish the information.
