Guntur: NDRF men were the heroes of the day

The NDRF team lead by Commander D.N Singh and 20 officers took over and made the rescue possible.

Guntur: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) unit stationed at Mangalgiri proved to be real heroes after rescuing two-year-old A. Chandrasekhar. Teamwork and dedication of the staff from the revenue, police and fire departments played a major role in rescuing the boy.

Revenue, fire and local police had managed to dig a 20-foot deep pit parallel to the borewell, and their quick work helped in the rescue attempt that was completed by the NDRF.

The NDRF team lead by Commander D.N Singh and 20 officers took over and made the rescue possible.

“This operation will remain as a great memory. It was an achievement for us,” said Mr Singh who has participated in a few borewell rescue operations in Telangana state.

“We thought the operation would end by 10 pm on Tuesday but the huge bounder in the rescue pit created problems for us. Our team of 20 young men along with fire and police personnel successfully brought the boy out,” Mr Singh said.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu appreciated the efforts of team. Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinnarajappa said that government would soon felicitate the teams which participated in the successful rescue.
