Flooding: BBMP mayor promises Rs 5,000 for food, what about homes, possessions?

Bengaluru: Mayor G. Padmavathi assured on Wednesday that a compensation package would be announced based on the damage suffered by people of the city in the recent flooding.

Revealing that around 50 houses had been severely damaged and that families had lost all their food in the sudden deluge, she said a compensation of Rs 5,000 would be given to each member of these affected families. The Mayor requested people to submit their application for compensation with details about the loss suffered supported by photographs. "BBMP revenue officials will assess the damage and announce a suitable compensation," she assured. Affected residents said that the damage to their homes and property must be compensated as well.
