BHADRACHALAM: Water level in the Godavari in Bhadrachalam further receded on Sunday. The water level which reached 61 feet decreased by 10 feet in the last 33 hours at the time of filing this report. The water level at 8 pm on July 15 was 70.9 feet.

Bhadrachalam is still in the danger zone as the water level is more than eight feet to the third warning level of 53 feet. Nearly 110 villages and colonies are in floodwaters and they will get relief only if the water level comes down below 43 feet of the first warning.

The district administration has decided to run 78 relief camps some more days as per the Chief Minister’s directions. Revenue officials started enumerating the affected families to give Rs 10,000 compensation. The amount will be given when the families in relief camps go to their houses.

The sanitation teams and jetting machines, which are deputed from various corporations and municipalities including Khammam Municipal Corporation, will come only after the colonies are freed from floodwater. Bleaching and removing of mud and garbage will be commenced only after floodwater recedes to zero level from the houses. Special officers are visiting the relief centres and asking the people to stay there till the Godavari comes to normal flow.
