Telangana docs told to cancel leaves, help affected

HYDERABAD: Health minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday called on all doctors working in the flood-affected areas of Telangana state to cancel their leaves and attend to duties in the wake of the possibility of spread of communicable diseases in the flood-hit areas. Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, held a review with district medical officials and doctors of the flood affected areas. The minister instructed the authorities to take up measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in and around submerged places of river Godavari, and to open health camps in submerged villages.

He said all arrangements are being made for medical tests and supply of medicines in these areas. He said to ensure well-coordinated efforts in the flood hit areas, it was decided to appoint Director of Medical Education Dr K. Ramesh Reddy as the nodal officer for Adilabad, Kumurum BheemAsifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Pedappalli districts.

Similarly, director of public health and family welfare Dr G. Srinivsava Rao has been appointed as the nodal officer for Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, and JayshankarBhupalapalli districts. While Dr Srinivas Rao has been asked to work from Kothagudem, Dr Ramesh Reddy was instructed to shift to Mancherial and work from there.
