Thiruvananthapuram: The SFI’s stranglehold is not limited to the University College, but exte-nds to the Government Arts College here also. An audio clip of SFI activists threatening the girl students of Arts College, who did not participate in their campaigns.

The threats were issued by a group headed by Arts College union chairman Sameer. The girls who did not participate in the Women's Wall programme were threatened for going home without the consent of the union leaders. The girls said in the voice clip that this was not an isolated incident. The voice was recorded due to their fear of retaliation as they are still studying in the college.

Meanwhile, the classes in the University College will be conducted under police security. The collegiate education department has also formed an internal committee in each department and a tutor has been given the charge of each class. The department head and principal will be responsible for conducting the classes.

Additional director of education K. K. Suma told the media that the office of the SFI union has been converted to a classroom. The room should not be used for any other purpose again, she said.

She also said that re-admission will not be given to those who drop out. Only regular students with sufficient marks will be admitted.

The chief superintendent of examination has been removed from the post and a new office for examination purposes will be opened in the college. The campus will be renovated after removing posters and wall letters. The higher education department will lead the renovation, Suma said.

The SFI has accused the RSS of attempting to tarnish its image by raising baseless allegations. SFI state secretary Sachin Dev and president V. Vineesh told reporters that the leadership was committed to correcting its mistakes. However, the federation will oppose all efforts by forces to tarnish their image.
