India wins big: India scored an important victory over Pakistan in the world arena on Wednesday when the International Court of Justice said that the death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav must stay suspended until Pakistan effectively reviews and reconsiders the sentence in light of Pakistan’s breach of Article 36(1) of the Vienna Convention, that is the denial of consular access and notification to the Indian citizen.

Court drops Quran dropping condition: After its directive created a furore, a local court here waived off the condition to distribute five copies of Quran to grant bail to a woman for allegedly posting communal comments on social media.

The court dropped the condition on a petition of the police citing difficulties in its implementation. With the modified order, Bharti was granted regular bail on condition of furnishing bail bond of Rs 7000.

Land dispute claims 9 lives: Nine people were killed and several sustained injuries on Wednesday in an incident of firing over a land dispute at a village in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Two people have been arrested over the matter, police added. The Chief Minister has taken cognisance of the issue and has directed the Director-General of Police to monitor the case.

Rajya Sabha passes NIA bill: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2019 with Home Minister Amit Shah assuring the House against its misuse.

The Bill aims at enhancing the jurisdiction of NIA to investigate scheduled offences committed outside India targeting Indians as well as Indian assets abroad.

Army attacked 131 times: In the last four years, there have been 131 terrorist attacks on the Indian Army bases and personnel in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeastern states of the country, Defence Ministry informed Parliament on Wednesday.

As per the Defence Ministry's reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the government said in 2016, 15 attacks took place while in 2017, the number of attacks rose to 33.
