KSU activists gheraoes Vice-Chancellor
Thiruvananthapuram: The KSU activists gheraoed Kerala University Vice-Chancellor V. P. Mah-adevan Pillai on Tuesday alleging that he was protecting the SFI leaders accused of stabbing fellow SFI activist Akhil Chandran of University College.
Six protesters, including a girl, climbed on the headquarters building of Kerala University and threatened to commit suicide. The police brought them down after pacifying them.
The protesters shouted slogans in the office of the vice-chancellor demanding the ouster of University College principal K. Viswambaran for supporting the SFI’s anti- democratic acts. The protests will be intensified as the talks with the VC failed, the KSU said.
They alleged that the vice- chancellor was favouring the SFI due to political influence. The police later removed them.
Activists of the pro-UDF Kerala University Staff Union also took out a march to the university headquarters demanding a probe into the recovery of answer scripts of the university examinations from the home of Sivarenjith, the first accused in the stabbing incident.
