Kozhikode: 3rd edition of \'Walk to Green\' held

Camp director Sreekumar Mavoor told DC that Pintorous group has been organising the camp every year.

Kozhikode: The third edition of "Walk to Green", an artists' camp titled "Varsha'19", was held at Kakkadampoyil on July 13 and 14 in association with Kairali Resorts. 'Walk to Green' is an initiative started by a group of people under a Pintorous artist group to feel and experience the beauty of nature and then to realistically portray them in canvas. The group was established in 2013 with the motto, "Art for Humanity, Colours for Love".

Camp director Sreekumar Mavoor told DC that Pintorous group has been organising the camp every year. Camps in previous years were conducted in association with the Department of Forest and Wildlife at Aralam, Kannur and Muthanga in Wayanad. Around 20 artists participated in both the camps", he said, adding that they only organize the camp during monsoon to experience the nature in rain.

The Kairali Resorts in Kakkadampoyil has arranged all the facilities for the camp. Fifteen artists including three from Nepal and one from Karnataka also participated in the camp. "The Pintorous group which started with 7 members has now doubled to 14. But all our group members could not participate in the camp due to some circumstances. "Few others who are not part of the group have joined the team", he added.

After the event, the team will organise an exhibition of the paintings, the money from which would be donated to any charity. Last year, the team offered a helping hand to the victims of the devastating flood.

"We are receiving good feedback. The events in the camp remain etched in the minds of the people, as it was a new experience for them to watch it live. Hopefully, the next camp would be conducted in Nepal in January," said Mr. Jagadeesh Palayat, a member of the group.
