DVAC raids in govt offices in Kovai

The sleuths began investigation with Amsaveni (sub-register-in charge) along with four staff members, who were unable to submit proper accounts.

COIMBATORE: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) conducted surprise checks at sub-register offices in Coimbatore and seized around Rs 1.5 lakh of unaccounted money, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to the source, based on a tipoff the sleuths from DVAC led by DSP Rajesh conduced a surprise raid at the bus-registration office near Saravanampatti-Vilankurchi road on Monday evening and seized Rs 79,000 unaccounted money allegedly received as bribe for registration.

The sleuths began investigation with Amsaveni (sub-register-in charge) along with four staff members, who were unable to submit proper accounts.

Meanwhile, another team led by DVAC Tirupur district DSP Thatchoinamoorthi conducted a surprise raid at sub-register office at Avinashi on Monday evening and seized Rs 35,000 unaccounted money; as the sub-register Vimala Devi failed to produce proper account, she was taken into custody and is being investigated.

Another Rs 24,000 unaccounted money was seized from Kunoor sub-register office on Monday evening following a surprise raid led by DVAC DSP Ms. Geetha Lakshmi.
