Telangana Rashtra Samithi flays Congress for KCR-Sharif remark

Komatireddy is upset that his company could not compete with other firms and secure the contracts.

Hyderabad: The TRS on Monday hits back at the Congress for saying that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family would meet the fate of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after the 2019 elections in the state. TRS MLAs said that it would be Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who would become "Vijay Mallya No. 2" and flee the country after the elections. During a public meeting in Nalgonda on Sunday, Mr Komatireddy said the Congress, soon after coming to power in 2019, would send the CM, his son K.T. Rama Rao, daughter K. Kavita and nephew T. Harish Rao to jail for corruption in awarding contracts of various projects in the state.

TRS MLAs from Nalgonda district Vemula Veeresham, Paila Shekar Reddy, N. Bhaskar Rao and MP Gutha Sukender Reddy addressed a press conference on Monday to condemn the remarks by the Congress leader. “Komatireddy looted public money by securing all the major contracts for Sushee Infra, which is owned by his family, during the Congress regime. The TRS government is awarding contracts based on merit. Komatireddy is upset that his company could not compete with other firms and secure the contracts. Out of frustration, he is making baseless allegations against the CM and his family. If he has any proof to support his allegations, he can proceed legally,” said Mr Veeresham.

Mr Shekar Reddy said that the consecutive Congress governments had neglected Nalgonda district for decades but after TRS came to power, the CM sanctioned Rs 35,000 crore for the development of the district. “The Congress and its leaders are popular for corruption. We all know how TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy burnt wades of currency notes worth crores of rupees found in his vehicle near a polling booth in 2014 elections, which were meant for bribing voters. How can such leaders level corruption charges against others?” he asked.
